Event: Dingle Batch 4 Release
Today saw the launch of long-awaited Batch number four from Dingle Distillery. We were fortunate enough present at the launch, and also got a bottle for future tasting.
Batch Number 4 is a special whiskey. It has been matured separately in four different cask types – bourbon, two sherry casks (Pedro Ximinez and Oloroso) and port. The resulting whiskey is beautifully blended to be harmonious and satisfying.
On the nose, it is a pleasing, warm mixture of American oak vanilla, dried fruits, candied ginger and toffee. The taste is complex and challenges the palate, but is beautifully balanced. The mouthfeel is unctuous and chewy with notes of vanilla, malt, currants, dried apricots and berry. The finish has slightly bitter dark chocolate notes.
Overall, this is an excellent expression from an up-and-coming whiskey distillery. We’re planning a Dingle tasting later in the year. Stay tuned for more information!
